I finished Medschool

after 5 years!

It finally happened!

So, on Friday I finally finished my last day of Culinary Medicine, which means I am DONE officially with any medical school coursework.

Looking back, time flew despite having to repeat my first year, and I do not regret it. I am going to make a video with the points why soon but since you all are subbed to this newsletter I am going to go ahead and spare you all the little details but here are the basic reasons:

  • I wouldn’t have discovered this amazing program I matched into! A 3-year program where I can do FM + Surgical OB! I still can’t believe it.

  • My 3rd-year rotations would have been SCREWED up due to COVID. My original class had a lot of “online clinical rotations.” I would not have had the opportunity for all the robust rotations including my rural opportunities. It was one of the biggest blessings in disguise because I would not have discovered my love for delivering babies!

  • You learn who your true supporters are. When you go through your toughest times is when you find out who your true supporters are! My circle shrunk and tightened. Let go of the people who do not believe in you or make your life harder. Life is already too hard!

  • I helped SO many people who have gone through the same thing! An unintended side effect is that I consistently get people reaching out to me, thanking me for sharing my story since so many students go through what I did. I am glad I showed them that I came out on the other end and they will too. You all on this newsletter are some of my biggest supporters. Crazy how the internet can find people willing to support you more than family sometimes! - Thank you.

I am currently eating a Frankenstein dinner. I cooked some potatoes, onion, peppers, and shrimp. Then decided to make those $0.30 ramens. I drained the sodium water and fried it all together a little bit. Tastes really good!

I recently went to a Family Medicine Mixer and love that I can now show up as my true self without being seen as “unprofessional” for being me.

See you all soon on YouTube!
