The Match for Residency, Cooking, Medschool, and World of Warcraft!

Hey Familia! First Email of many I hope to send out.

1. Match! I am getting a bit more anxious about the match as it approaches. I have my top 3 programs pretty set and I will be doing a site visit to North Colorado Family Medicine this week. and I recently did a site visit to Swedish in Seattle, Washington. The 2 are very different geographic Residencies but both have rigorous full-spectrum Family medicine training with the strong OB that I am looking for in my training.

2. Cooking! I created these DELICIOUS baked salmon cups, but the structure wasn’t quite there because I used a regular cupcake mold and it’s just too wide. I would stick a whole cupcakes worth of nori, rice, cucumber, avocado, celery, and baked salmon into my mouth. I dribbled some soy sauce and topped it off with spicy mayo and sesame seeds. (I am being a little extra right now) I winged some parts of it but here is the main RECIPE I followed if you want to try it. I also baked a sour cream, chocolate loaf cake that was AMAZING! It fell apart because I didn’t let it cool down before removing it from the Dutch pan, I cooked it in, but it was extremely rich and also very dense. Perfect for eating a slice with your coffee. I followed this RECIPE pretty closely other than adding a bit more coffee than it said.

3. Med school: I completed all my clinical requirements for graduation on January 8th, 2023! I am currently on a research month and my last block in April will be Culinary Medicine! I am ready to graduate and become someone's doctor. It feels a bit surreal, but I am looking forward to practicing medicine and learning to become an excellent physician.

4. World of Warcraft: I have been playing this game… A LOT. It got me into trouble with grades in undergrad but now that I actually have the time and I am more disciplined I am taking advantage of my time off before Intern Year! I currently play frost Mage and Enhance Shaman if you know anything about the game.
